Once again Finder is demonstrating its solidarity with the most vulnerable and needy by supporting CBM Italy, a humanitarian organization working for the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness as well as for the inclusion of people with disabilities in Italy and the Southern hemisphere.
This year Finder is supporting a project dedicated to Guatemalan infants –an initiative that we hope will give these children the chance to look to the future.
CBM Italy is part of CBM (Christian Blind Mission), an international organization active since 1908. CBM Italy was founded in 2001 in Milan, and in 2009 was officially recognized as an NGO by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Every day CBM Italy works on the front line for the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness as well as for the inclusion of people with disabilities in Italy and the Southern hemisphere.
In many poor and marginalized communities in the Southern hemisphere, blindness is not just a disability, it is a real limitation.
Retinopathy of prematurity is one of the leading causes of infant blindness. If not diagnosed in time it can limit a child’s life and their future as an adult, taking away not only their sight but also their ‘ability to be seen’.
Proper prevention and treatment can give these children the chance to emerge from the shadows and build their own tomorrow.
This is CBM Italy’s goal.
This year Finder has chosen to support the organization by making a concrete contribution which will ensure the screening of 133 infants in 9 neonatal units in Guatemala as well as launching a campaign to raise families’ awareness of the issue.
We hope that this help will provide a moment of rebirth, and the first steps on a path full of light and opportunity for these children and their families.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together
